A Free Semester of Cengage Unlimited for 1,000 College Students

By Victoria Robertson on April 23, 2018

According to a recent press release, there’s an opportunity for 1,000 college students to win a free semester of Cengage Unlimited.

For those unfamiliar with the company, Cengage is the education and technology company entirely built for learners. This company is the largest, US-based provider of teaching/learning materials for higher education.

Cengage Unlimited is simply a subscription service in which students can purchase college course materials. The value is about $120/semester, offering students access to over 22,000 products across 70 disciplines and 675 courses. There is no limit on how many Cengage materials a student uses.

The company has partnered with the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Foundation to make this goal a reality for college students.

PTK is an international honor society celebrating academic achievements of students at associate degree-granting colleges. This society has over 3.5 million members and about 1,300 chapters in 10 nations.

So if you are a PTK member or alumni currently attending a U.S. college or university, apply for this free semester by May 15 of this year. You can enter at http://www.ptk.org/cengage.

Cengage Unlimited will launch in August of this year, and subscriptions can be used for the 2018/2019 school year.

This is great news, especially given the fact that students that pursue associate’s degrees typically deal with financial challenges as well. In fact, over half of these students have unstable living situations while about 13% face homelessness. For this reason, a free semester of materials will certainly help to lessen some of the costs related to attending college.

According to Michael Hansen, Cengage CEO, “The cost of course materials, which can rival tuition at some two-year schools, can have a big impact on whether college students are successful. With an affordable subscription to high quality, proven course materials, we’re removing those barriers and increasing access to learning. These awards demonstrate our commitment to giving students a more impactful, quality learning experience.”

Students are finally being recognized for their work rather than their financial status, and this is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate it.

According to Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, PTK President and CEO, “While PTK members have very similar financial struggles as other college students, they dramatically outperform their peers in completion and transfer outcomes. We appreciate Cengage’s investment in their success.”
